Picking up kids

Use the pickup QR scanner and security codes to release kids safely.

Scout uses two-factor pickup: a security code on the kid's nametag plus a parent QR code or a manual approval. It's belt-and-suspenders, and it's saved a few churches from "wait, who picked up Maddie?" already.

How pickup works

When a kid checks in, the printed nametag has a 4-digit security code. The parent's printout has a matching QR code. At pickup:

  1. Parent presents the QR code at the pickup screen.
  2. Volunteer scans it with the kiosk camera (tap Scan QR at /checkin/kiosk).
  3. The kid's photo and security code appear. Volunteer matches the code on the kid's nametag.
  4. Tap Release to log the pickup.

If the parent loses the QR

Go to Manual pickup on the kiosk. Look up the household, confirm the parent's photo, then enter the 4-digit code from the kid's nametag. Scout requires the code as a second factor — there's no skipping this.

If the kid loses their nametag

Look the kid up by name on the kiosk pickup screen. The 4-digit code is also stored on the kid's check-in record, so you can verify the parent another way (matching photo, household relationship).

Pickup audit log

Every pickup is logged with the volunteer who released the kid, the timestamp, and which code was used. Visit Check-In → History to review or pull a report.
