Help/Giving
Recording offline gifts
Log cash, check, and stock gifts so they show up on year-end statements.
Cash, checks, stock, and crypto gifts don't flow through Stripe — they need to be logged manually so they show up on year-end statements.
Log a single gift
Go to Giving → Record gift. Pick the person, fill in the amount, the date, and the method (Cash / Check / Stock / Other). Scout matches it to the giver's profile and includes it on their year-end statement automatically.
If the giver isn't in Scout yet, click + Create new person in the giver picker. You can fill in just a name and email — the rest later.
Log a batch (Sunday offering)
Most churches batch their Sunday offering. Go to Giving → Batches → New batch. Enter the date, the deposit total, and then add gifts one at a time. Scout shows the running total against the deposit so you catch math errors before posting.
When the batch totals match, click Post batch. Posted batches can't be edited — only refunded.
Stock and crypto
Log stock gifts at the fair market value on the date received (your accountant will tell you the right number). Use Method: Stock so the year-end statement notes "Non-cash contribution" with the right IRS language.
Crypto is the same: log USD value on receipt, method Other, and add a note with the asset and the wallet address.
Year-end
When January comes, Scout generates a single statement per giver covering every gift logged that year — online, cash, check, stock, everything. See Tax statements.
