Help/People & notices
Finding people in your directory
Search, filters, and pulling up the group of people you need.
People is the directory. One search box, four filter pills, and a table. This covers getting to the person or the cohort you want, and the things the page deliberately does not do.
Search
The box at the top is placeheld "Search by name, email, or phone...". It matches names, email addresses, and phone numbers, and name matching is fuzzy, so a misremembered spelling usually still lands. Results refresh about a third of a second after you stop typing and put you back on page 1.
The four filters
- Status: All, Active, Inactive, Archived. The directory defaults to Active, so archived people are hidden until you ask for them.
- Engagement: All Engagement, Connected, Needs Attention, At Risk, New. This is Scout's nightly read. See What Scout's statuses mean.
- Capacity: Any capacity, Open to host, Open to mentor, Good with new people. These are things people said about themselves in the member app, not things Scout worked out.
- Tags: Any tag, or a tag name. Manage tags… at the bottom of that menu opens the panel where you create, rename, recolor, and delete tags.
Active filters appear as chips under the pills. Remove one with its X, or click Clear all. When a combination returns nothing, the empty state offers Clear all filters.
The strip at the top
When Scout has people worth a look this week, a charcoal strip appears above the table reading something like "12 people may need a look this week." Click Review and the directory filters itself to that cohort. The strip hides itself once you are already looking at that view, and it does not render at all when the count is zero.
On the desktop table, hovering the pill in the Engagement column shows the first two sentences of Scout's read on that person, so you can scan a list without opening anyone.
Adding and editing
Add Person opens a sheet asking for First Name, Last Name, Email, and Phone. Only the two names are required.
To edit without leaving the list, hover a row on desktop and click the pencil. The Edit Person sheet is the same one you get from a profile, and it holds every stored field: photo, names, email, phone, address, type (Adult or Child), birth date, and Status.
Retiring someone
There is no delete button anywhere in the directory. To take someone out of circulation, open Edit Person, set Status, and save. The helper text under that select is the clearest statement of what each one does:
- Active: scored by Scout and surfaced on your dashboard.
- Inactive: kept on file, excluded from Scout's read.
- Archived: hidden from default views.
Nothing is destroyed. Check-in history, notes, and giving all stay attached.
Paging
Fifty people per page, with the count above the table reading "{n} of {total} shown". Past seven pages a Go to box appears so you can jump.
What the directory does not do
- No bulk actions. There is no checkbox column, no select-all, no bulk tag, no bulk archive, and no export from this page. Everything here is one person at a time.
- No sorting by column. The table headers are labels, not controls.
- No saved searches. A bookmarked URL is the closest thing, and it only carries three of the four filters.
- No archive or restore on the row. Status lives inside the Edit Person sheet.
Next
- Reading a person's profile
- Cleaning up duplicates if search is turning up the same person twice.
